Webmaster's Commentary:

Special thanks to Cash Case for his demonstration of using a Stud Welder to pull dents. The cost of the Stud welder and accessories was $119.95 from Harbor Freight Tools.

At our September meeting we had an interesting parking lot tech session. One of the members Corvairs had developed an oil leak on the way to the meeting that came from an extension the owner had installed for his oil pressure sensor. This extension, about 4 inches in length, had vibrated causing the threads of one of the 1/4" pipe connections to crack. Lesson learned: If you have reason to extend the piping in this area, be sure to support it in some manner that vibration will not affect it.

What's the RIGHT oil to use in your Corvair and other flat tappet engines? Richard Widman is a frequent poster on the Corvair Center Forum and oil distributor in Bolivia. Download the following PDF file from his website Selection of the Right Motor Oil for the Corvair. Excellent reading.
